With these constant middle ear infections occurring, your child may be at risk of hearing loss, loss of balance or Glue ear. Glue ear occurs when the Eustachian tube malfunctions and does not let air get into the middle ear or allow fluid to empty out. This fluid, over time, can become quite thick and cause hearing loss. By the time this condition occurs you may be advised by your Paediatrician that your child needs an operation to insert Grommets into the ear to allow the fluid to drain and to let the air into the middle ear.
